How I overcome recession effect

Now I have decided I will put some of the personal achievements also in my blog which earlier I used to write inform of article. i will continue to do so but at the same time I will publish here also as some of the followers and visitor it may find easiest way to access information about me.

Today I am going to share during recession time what are the issues i faced apart from recession and how i overcome the and who helped me to overcome those issues.

This is not a simple story. This is some series of incident that transform my life completely and that too also in positive note. Ever Since 7th January incident came into limelight all of a sudden our life changed dramatically. It was all of a sudden that someone thrown you out from 30000 feet without a Para shoot and you have to save your life!

When I am trying to cope up with the situation suddenly on 18th January my father got a cerebral attack and 21st January he passed away only in 61 years. I reached my hometown around 6 hours late and not able to see my dad for the last time(Around 2500 km from Chennai) . I not only lost the person whom I loved perhaps more than my life and but also lost my best friend, philosopher and guide. I used to call my father twice or thrice everyday and not able to remember in past 10 years (I am outside of my hometown) if I missed to give him a call or at least a missed call!

Now no roof on my top and scorching heat I have to bear as all the responsibility came in to my shoulder. At the same time my automobile client also cutting down budget drastically due to massive slowdown in the automobile industry. Thanks to recession. I have been shifted to completely a new challenging role. Life cannot be as worse as even in my nightmare also I have not thought this. I have to go to a different place for morning walk as I am fade up with the odd questions about my beloved company. What really bothers me most of the people were happy to questioned me and they were really enjoying! Everyday I came to office not knowing tomorrow I will be here or not as client also cutting down resources drastically and couple of my friend have to go back to bench and couple of them has to face bigger setback!

Situation starts scaring me too. One weekend when I was thinking about my father one quote I remembered from him which is "If you want to be a winner you can always if you have a vision and mission." My wife also supported me a lot. She gave me enough strength by saying that now all of us are looking onto you. You have to win and there is no second option! I realize my sister, mother, wife and father also want me to win.

I cannot express in words how much mental strength I got from my family. I just took two hours to understand me and my skills properly and you won't believe I list them in a paper. I told myself Subhajit you have

Excellent client handling skills and you have done it throughout the globe
Great negotiation and presentation skill
Superior technical skills
Outstanding Process and Quality skills

I got the confidence that it is very very difficult to replace me as compare to others as I have so many cutting edge skills either in soft or in technical. Next target was to focus on my delivery.

In the difficult time in a new role I maintained 100% SLA that too also in new role. All my deliverables were outstanding and got countless appreciation from customer in a regular manner. Mean time I have completed my green belt project and was an SME of a Six Sigma Black belt project which also well appreciated by the customer. Meantime I also completed the first Lean Six Sigma project in FCSD practice which is probably first in FORD also. I got "S" rating and promotion also for my outstanding performance in difficult time. Couple of my article also published in the internet and recently I have been selected as a planning committee member in the Ford Six Sigma and Lean group. I have been called by Java Centre of Excellence team to provide presentation.

When I looked back I could see last one year I went through recession, Satyam scam, death of my father and so many scary events which mature me enough to face any sort of CHALLENGE. There is always some positive even in deep trouble also which I learnt in last one year. This is my success story to overcome all hurdles.

What I understood from these challenges that all depend on your mindset. How you are taking things forward and how you want to see you. Basically we all are marketing guys. We all have targets in life (i.e. is vision and mission) but we may not have proper plan to achieve it. Whenever in crisis just ask yourself are you doing the right thing for your carrier? You will get the proper answer as you are the best judge of yourself. Once you get the answer you can plan to achieve it. Does not it so simple ! Yes it is as .

Golden rules for implementing Six Sigma in an IT organization

Before we actually start discussing on golden rules of implementing six sigma let us first discuss why any organization needs six sigma. I believe below are the reasons that drives an organization towards six sigma.

Lack of initiative in new process or design.
    Delay in deliverables.
    Lack of collaboration between processes.
No continuous quality improvement process in place.
    Loss of customer satisfaction.

In a simple word any organization which is not meeting stakeholder's satisfaction need a change and it could be better in terms of six sigma if reasons are mentioned above.

Implementation of six sigma is a basically "Top down approach" and broadly can be treated as waterfall model.

    Leadership Commitment :

By leadership here we would like to mean all categories of leaders and not only the top management of an organization.

The informal leaders are the most recognized and highly influential leaders in a Six Sigma project. The presence of quality leadership commitment trait in these informal leaders is very much essential for the success of any Six Sigma strategy. Informal leaders are a very integral part of Six Sigma implementation and maintenance team and without their involvement means sure failure of the strategy. Besides, informal leaders will resent being out of the major activity loop and will not extend cooperation in the areas they excel resulting in the lack of procedural influence. Therefore you should have well trained informal leaders. Occasional hiring of Black Belt trained informal leaders will also give an impetus to the successful implementation of Six Sigma strategy. In other words, they are the people who will help to get the ball rolling as well as rolling in the right direction.

    Strategic Alignment:

This alignment required because many organizations lack a common understanding about their projects. This lack of clarity can impede progress toward achieving the organizations goals.

Strategic Alignment Ensuring how to keep projects on track and aligned with corporate strategy, while keeping key stakeholders engaged with the project

    Change managers/Leaders :

This is a management skills which include leadership development, marketing and sales. Is the "black art" of Six Sigma deployment

    Customer focused market knowledge :

Six sigma always driven by vision and mission of the organization. Processes are designed from the perspective of the customer and are enabled by a commitment to thinking in terms of processes across the organization. Metrics such as SLA adherence, reliability, price, on-time delivery, service and accuracy provide the targets. The customer focus creates market knowledge that can illuminate the need for process change in areas where the company can add value or implement improvements that customers themselves value most

    Bottom Line Benefits :

The main aim is to improved bottom-line profitability. Satisfied customers come back for more and encourage business associates, family and friends to do the same. It is the vote of the customers, not that of an awards committee or certification board, that counts. In today’s competitive business environment, initiatives must justify themselves economically.
According to Peter Drucker, “Profit is not the explanation, cause or rationale of business behavior and business decisions, but the test of their validity.”

Process Approach : There should be only two approaches. One is DMAIC & other is DFSS. DMAIC should be applied in existing process and DFSS should be applied in new process.

Decision with measurement: The deployment of Six Sigma in a service or transactional environment usually entails working with various information systems, which may seem “data rich” at first glance but are, in fact, data poor due to their design and implementation. For this reason there should be some specific measurement system to overcome this. Some metrics are really useful in this purpose.

Continuous innovation : You have to a mindset for continuous innovation. Need to think always out of box for innovation and right people in place. Leadership team needs to be patient which is key to success.

    Organizational learning :

By implementing Six Sigma Organization also moving towards a better process and quality oriented organization which is a great learning

    Continuous refinement :

Continuous refinement is necessary to achieve reduce defect hence cost. Over a period of time we get controlled over the process and continuous refinement will help to improve quality.

Key Success Factor of six sigma implementation :

    · Master Black Belt and Black belt should drive the organization towards six sigma.
    · Training and techniques of six sigma methodologies and tools should be available to the all employees.
    · Always focus on customer delight which not only reduce cost but also enable breakthrough bottom line results.
    · Awards, rewards and recognition for successful six sigma project teams.
